Hi there, I live in Ramsgate, kent. Been playing guitar for quite a long time now and began building them as a hobby about ten years ago, I have a lap steel guitar which has been hanging on the wall since i made it and have decided i would like to learn how to play it so i am hoping to get some good advice here, I'm into Neil Young, Pink Floyd but Blue's is what i really want to use it for and to learn first as i figured it would be easier, then move on perhaps to some country.

Welcome Borat. :)

I quite enjoy listening to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin & Yes etc myself & have respect for Neil Young also.

I was originally going to have a crack at playing a lap steel. I have one that I bought from Rock On music in Nottingham about 15yrs ago. The story goes that they sold one to Dave Brock of Hawkwind earlier that day as Hawkwind were playing Rock City that night & were in the town. Dunno if it was totally true but I parted with 100 notes & bought one! It is Vietnamese & a copy of an American one from the 60's, apparently. I will post a picture of it on here one day. I was looking at buying a Morrell one from an e-bay shop, Rothsey Music I think..? I read a few poor reviews on them so I extended my search & came across a Bennett. I soon ended up on here viewing a Bennett pedal steel & bought it.

Enjoy the forum & I hope you get some help from the folk on here :guitar:

Thanks Barry, I remember seeing Hawkwind in the early 70's, a couple of them actually lived in Thanet for a while. Funny you mentioned a Bennet Lap Steel, my first build was a copy of one which i saw in a guitar magazine.....and thanks for your help
