Had time today for a good rummage through the site, you know I found things of interest everywhere I looked. Started playing the pedal steel around 94-95 after playing the dobro flat previous to that. It was seeing Bob Dixon play that got me hooked and I bought my first steel (MSA single ten 3+4) from him. I remember the first few months being very intense learning curve my left ankle swelled up and I certainly overdid it but within a year had an opportunity to play with a local band . This gave me the chance
to make the few licks I had learnt fit in somewhere. In a way, fifteen years later I am still trying to do that ,make it fit and sound as good as I can.
Mostly I learnt from the tabs in the Winnie Winston book and listening to everyone I could but could have saved much time if there had been some-one to ask when needed . Having access to the British Steelies Society has to be a good deal. I for one have many areas that I'm hoping to improve on . Stand by for some questions. Thanks COL'.
P.S Have noticed people listing their gear. I'm playing a Carter D10 setup the Dayway, Peavey Nashville amp, sometimes use a Pro-fex, dobro is a Paul Beard Gold Tone, I record in an old version of Cubase on P.C. but have recently switched to a Mac .My recording at home is something I want to improve on....
