That was an interesting introduction and I enjoyed the read.... I too love the western swing stuff but limited in ability on the back neck,,, Ihave discovered that I should have devoted equal time to both necks as, if you get reasonably fluid on the front neck as I think I may be by now, then the back gets neglected more and more and I have to force myself to try it at least once in an evening`s playing.
I would have thought the old ZB regardless of its condition would have been a better prospect than the C/S?? even if it were a beginners model...?

My arthritis musn't be as bad as yours 'cos I can still use picks, but I have known more than one lap steel player that used a flatpick out of preference.
I commend your approach to the Uni12 - it IS a different tuning and should be repected as such rather than seen as something to ape E9th/C6th sounds but doing neither quite as well.
Yes, keep in touch - I live in the village and get into (NESGF venue) The Buck "early doors" some days and most Sunday lunchtimes. There are often local-ish jazz bands on Sundays and they have a website with details. Also the landlord lets me use the room for music when it's not busy and we occasionally have live (usually acoustic) music in the bar. Will look forward to meeting up; best wishes, Tony .
