I was impressed. Nice chaps too.

That Les Pal amp and lap combo is downright reasonable I think.

I disagree

Those prices are a bit ridiculous for what you are getting.

Having played all the Lap Steel Guitars they had in all the Denmark street strip last year.

Brand name doesn't mean good sound or tone and older Lap Steel Guitars need routine maintenance.

Most did not have. Also old tuning machine heads made of plastic and single coils that hum more than normal at volume. No thanks.

If I sold you those with no brand name you would feel like some work needed to be done before I sold you it. The same goes.

No doubt buying new is better IMO. I agree with that. But for those laps, based on the market, are about in line with what others are charging for them. Plus, they seem willing to deal from my experience with them.

Is it worth it? Hell no! That's why I didn't buy them <g>. It's crazy the way prices have risen on this stuff the last few years. You used to be able to get them for a song a few years back. So it goes...

For a song indeed lol. I love that expression.

I remember in Toronto picked up a Fender Champ as a tag on when I bought an acoustic cause it wasn't doing anything.

I originally went to the pawn shop for a vacuum back in uni days.

My only point is those old laps need some fixing. Some more than others.

It broke my heart to see the double neck Gibson console tuner pans and machine heads worn and in need of repair and the. Body covered in dust and this is a test bits.

Then I saw the price I was shocked. It's listed as much as a brand new pedal steel. Ridiculous. Not in that state. If it were played by a legend and kept in good condition yes but not the way it is now.

Darn autocorrect anyway those laps should be sold at a considerably lower price in their current state.

If you get a chance to pop in to the shops in Denmark street play it tune it and listen. Tell me your heart won't sink knowing it's not being loved.

Sadly, I didn't have time to play them as I was in the market for a resonator (which I didn't find for the right price either!) but most old laps I've seen both here and in the States are in dire need of care. And people keep paying crazy money for them! Uggghhh.

Not many "deals" any more in gear I'm afraid.

Actually there are plenty on the other side of the pond.

Just contacted a few.

Josh Hicks for example built a beautiful 10 string as is willing to sell for $300 US plus shipping which is about $90 US.

Anyone interested please contact him. Here is his Lap Steel Guitar.
