National Console - Sunny side of the street

Postby mick hearn » Thu Sep 03, 2015 2:20 pm

Just a quick recording on the spur of the moment recorded on mobile phone. This was to answer a query on the lap steel face book page concerning the sound of the National Twin 8. Bloopers included.

Thanks John.
Tuning is standard C6 and in the key of C. See what you can sus out. I'll give you a clue - there is only one bar slant and the rest are based around C, F, G, F7 which is three frets above your F. If you wanted to be real clever and some crafty slants you could possibly pop in a couple of diminished chords.

John - Now I know you were very busy at the last meet out your way but I did play it . I think you were still laughing at my version of Four Wheel Drive.

See how you go. It wont be exactly the same so if you still need help I will tab out. Will have to do it on paper and email as I don't get on with tab programmes. Have a look at Roger Edgington on YouTube. As well as pedal steel he does non pedal sessions. This is what I would aspire to if I could get there.

Hey Mick I would never laugh at anybody`s attempt at 4 wheel drive, nothing but respect from this end.... but your right I was rather busy at the meeting its always like that and I am knackered by the time I get home...
I do have a little go on this Fender D8 every now and then but its just not me and much as I like the sound of it, there are times I would be pleased to see it moved on>>>>
call in if your down this way and show me how its done?? :?

Thanks Donny.

I mentioned Roger Edgington above and he does some good stuff - however - I do wish he would play the song to begin with. Basil always says establish the song then go off and do your own thing. I just listened to his version of of Secret Love and thought it was a differnt song. It was only little phrases that cropped up that I began to see the it was in fact the Secret Love we all know. Lesson learnt there though. Like the swing version though and must have a go.
