Help with a new amp

Can anybody help ? i want to up grade my amp, the one i use at the moment is a basic practice amp for guitar it is a roland cube 15x and i would like some thing better i have heard of a peavey Nashville 112 any thoughts on this or others i can go to about £400

I'm in a similar boat to you and agree with John after doing much research. A brand new Cube is a lot cheaper than a second hand Nashville or Steel King and apparently sound great with steel. I have various old guitar amps and a PA and I'm currently playing through a micro cube as it has the best sound so I'm currently saving up for a bigger one

Hello there TMM2015.
Are you looking primarily for an amp just for lap steel?
On top of JD and Roger's comments and hugely depending on what kind of sound you are after, I might also suggest that you have a look at some small valve amps. Fender pro juniors are fairly inexpensive (300-400) though there are varying opinions on their tone. Gibson amps from the 40s-early 60s are popping up quite a bit these days too and tend to go for between 300-700. (something like a BR-9 or a GA-9 'Skylark'). Using a valve amp with give you a different kind of tone to the solid-state roland and peavey 112.
If you ever play any bluesy stuff, I would really recommend a valve amp; the natural overdrive from valves is a gorgeous sound.

Joe has a good point there, I have a nice Fender twin F/w Telonics speakers if you could go to 950??

I have a small Fender Champion which sounds pretty good but I still prefer the sound of the cube. The fender looks the part though:)

Any £10 amp will do.
As most of your practice and recording will be done direct.
Only live playing maybe you should get a keyboard amp as the instruments frequency range is MUCH higher than a guitar.
POP goes the marshall head.

Thanks for your help,i have now invested in an upgrade which was purchased from one of our members we had a long chat on pros and cons of lap v pedal you never know when i can knock out a couple of tunes i may go for a pedal as well
