Fingerboards et al
As an amateur Lap steel builder I want to tell everyone about Bruce Wei products.
I wish to point out that I am not on his payroll, nor would I get any discount from promoting his goods. He doesn't know about this post.
Bruce uses the latest equipment, water cutting equipment for the inlays and Laser technology for the woodcutting to produce fantastic inlays or finished fingerboards using premium grade woods and the best Mother of Pearl and Abalone for the details. He has many designs of his own, but can also manufacture to your own preferences. Why struggle to do it yourself when a professional can do a great job for you?
Bruce attended Durham University to study Business Development. He can be contacted by phone if you need to and speaks very good English.
I have a Luthier friend, Russell Bennett, who designed his own headstock logo inlays and now has them produced by Bruce, rather than the labour intensive method of doing it himself. Russell also designs inlays which are made by Bruce and then he fits them to his own necks, which he routes out by hand.
For the British market, you're looking at £35~£55 plus shipping if you haggle online for a fantastic fingerboard.
Personally I have never paid more than £37, delivered to UK!
Please check Bruce's stuff on eBay, search by, lap Steel Fingerboard (or Fretboards)
Keith.
ps. I will be at the North of England Steel Guitar Festival in August, playing a couple of duets with my friend, Derek Evans, you'll be able to see a couple of Bruce's fingerboards there, but please bring our own earplugs. I'm a learner.
