Apparently I have to do this as a new member to stay in the group so here goes.

Been playing guitar, lap steel and pedal steel for a while but I must admit I never did get into the steel as much as I should have. Yes I have been in bands since I was a teenager spending about 20 years with country bands. I had been messing about on an old Jedson lap steel, copy of a fender, but recently saw a George Boards 8 string lap steel on Ebay. I kept saying "should I?" and eventually put a bid on 5 minutes before the end and got it. Boy am I glad I did. I have never met a lap steel with so much clarity of tone and so easy to play. Solid maple and what a beauty. To cap it all I was searching around on the Steel Guitar Forum and actually found a picture of George himself at an exhibition with the very guitar. Apparently it was number 2 of a run of 4 of maple made in 2009. I class this as a good buy and it sounds great. Cant wait to records with it.

Here is a sample of the Jedson with my daughter doing the singing, the other half of my current duo - Fates Right Hand

Hope you like - That's all for now

Hi
Back again. Well you asked to hear the George Board so I quickly put this together. Backing is a midi file. Got to sort a couple of chords out an try to think of something during the orchestral part.

Hope you like

Right. Let me go back to practicing my version of Boot Heel Drag. Trying it on the C6 instead of the Tom Morrel tuning.

You need to link directly to an MP3 file to use the forum's player.

Sorry mate. A bit thick on this sort of thing. Where would I have to put the MP3 file in order to link to it. My daughter normally sorts this sort of thing for me.

Don't worry. The MP3 file has to be hosted online somewhere. There are a lot of free file hosting sites, or if you use Dropbox you could use a share URL from that.
