E9 on a lap-steel.

Hi all. I'm thinking of tuning my eight string lap-steel to the top eight of PSG E9. Then adding a couple of string benders.
Just wondering if anyone has done this, and if so, which two G#s and Bs would be the most useful?
Any other constructive comments or advice welcome!

Hi Tony, first question is - what size scale is your guitar- the tuning I use is best for a short scale,
This is for a 6 string
High to low
F#
A the same as string 3 on a pedal steel
E
B - c#
G# - A
E
I use certano benders and this achieves most common pedal steel licks. The second A string is an octave higher ( the same as a pedal steel when pressing pedal B) and if you have a long scale neck it will snap before you reach A.
Hope this helps
