Hello Neville,
I'm afraid I've got no experience of this programme, but out of curiosity I had a look at musecore.org.
It appears to be a free download, and although they seem to cater for some extremely exotic instruments, there is no mention of any steel guitar. It states it caters for alternative guitar tunings (no tunings specified) so, perhaps you can input a C6 tuning.
I hope someone can help you with what I think is a noble cause, good luck.

As Danny said, I'd say the best way to go about creating music for a C6 steel is to create an electric guitar staff, change the pitches of the strings, and save this as a template so you don't have to do the whole thing over every time you start a new score.

I discovered Musescore a while ago and posted a thread which may be of some use: https://www.thebritishsteeliessociety.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12127 There was certainly a free download for 8 string lap steel somewhere in the ether.

From memory, it's great for lap steel but a right pain if you want to raise just one note whilst leaving others as they are. I transcribed some stuff for my guitar with a B-bender, and had to effectively add a separate track for the B string so that only that note was raised. There is possibly a smarter way to do this but I didn't find it...

Good luck using it - I found it a huge help in learning other people's solos, as once the notes are there you can play at part speed to work out how to get from one bit to another!
