Deluxe 34 stands

Postby michael murray » Wed May 27, 2020 8:53 pm

Hey you guys! I hope you are all well.

I recently had the great good fortune to acquire a Deluxe 34 lap steel stand through the Forum from Forum member Dieter Stoll.

Firstly I would like to give a heartfelt shout out to Dieter for being such a cool dude. Smooth effortless transaction, great price and swift delivery even in these times.

As it turned out, the neck support end of the stand had been modified by someone at some point to enable it to be used with deeper bodied instruments.

Do not get me wrong it was all as described and it worked but it was just a bit clunky.

I reached out to Deluxe 34 through their website relating my tale and expressing my needs.

I wanted it to be able to accommodate several solid body lap steels, style 4 Weissenborns, deep bodied Weissenborn and resonators.

I received an almost instant response from Mark Roeder and as a result of various emails back and forth to determine my needs, Mark supplied me with an additional neck support for deeper bodied instruments and a knurled brass nut for the original neck support which was absent. All of this for $40 which included shipping.

As it turns out my stand is a prototype- one of three. It now can be used with every instrument which I curate. It is such a well engineered thing of beauty.

Many thanks to The Forum, Dieter and Mark.

Lovely collection there Matthew. Quick question, do the acoustic instruments sound better on the stand, as opposed to 'on the lap'? My mandolin's fitted with a Toneguard, that keeps it off the beer belly, and definitely improves the tone.
GFI Ultra keyless S10 4+5 Emmon's setup + Sigler, Li'l Izzy, Hilton volume pedal, Roland Cube 80gx, Joyo American Sound Pre-amp, Behringer VD400 Delay Pedal, Peterson Strobo Plus HD and a brace of bars, Ben's, Ezzee-Slide, Pearse, BJS, SIT nickel strings.

Hi Danny. Thanks for your interest.
I cannot honestly answer that question at this time. I haven't spent enough time using the stand. Also, my geriatric hearing is not what it was-too many nights in the roadhouse etc. I would imagine that it will sound better just because of the closer proximity to my ears.
We'll see......!
