Anyone playing non pedal or Hawaiian steel guitar should watch this video as it is a mine of information on all aspects of steel playing and an approach to it.
This is very informative for beginners and more experienced players will learn from it as well, I came across it on utube and think it well worth sharing, so enjoy.

A most important lesson. He covers most of what you need to know and these are the techniques that I employ except for one. Let us not forget that he is a Hawaiian player therefore he will constantly slide from one chord to another. A pedal steel player would not necessarily do that. Having said that I will be listening to this again and again to absorb what he has said. He is not known as being the master of touch and tone for nothing.
