Moved the phone as I started then could not edit to get rid of the gaps. Never mind. Had a go at this Doug Jernigan (Johnny Paycheck) song. Have loved Dougs playing.

Thanks boys. I really love that Remmington and starting to get the hang of it now. The whole lot including the steel was coming through the hi-fi speakers as I was recording the steel part, so I was pleased with the end result.

Great job there Mick, that's a song I have been trying for a while now.
Where did you get the backing track?
Asleep at the steel

Hi Willie and thanks mate.

The backing track is my own as are all of mine created with Band in a Box. I was lucky with this one as when I was looking for soloist tracks I found a couple of half decent ones. You will notice that the fiddle and guitar solos are the opposite way round to Doug Jernigan's version. Thats because the fiddle part in the chorus was crap compared to the verse part. Similarly my version differs a bit from Doug because I am playing it on lap steel as opposed to pedal steel. Got to admit I enjoy playing more that way than on pedal steel. When creating my backing tracks I try to use the soloist spots in BB but when that fails I resort to using guitar myself.

PM me with an email address and I will make you a copy of the backing track. All I ask for is credit if used. Believe it or not even Bill Ferguson alias Steelpicker has asked me for backing tracks so chuffed with that when you imagine what he must have access to.

Same for the rest of you old boys - if you need one of my backing tracks just ping me with a request. We got to stick together :guitar: :guitar: :guitar:
