Hi Keith
Yes I shall be there. Hotel already booked. Be nice to see you and the wife and also that new guitar you have created.
As you rightly say Doug B has a style all of his own when it comes to lap steel. Very simple but effective to say the least. No doubt you will be playing some of his tunes. Also if you are a good boy you can show me how far you got with the Nightlife tab :o

Also don't be afraid to ask "How do you do ....." I am sure we can find time for that.

If remember I will bring over my George Boards. We call her Suzette. Got a case for her which is actually a shotgun case and just the right size. It's the HSF case, ABS and costs about £30 and padded internally, and available off fleabay.

Mick,
have you ever tried to play any classical pieces? Not in my ability scan, but something like Gabriel's oboe might sound lovely. I haven't mapped it out on my C6 but wonder if anyone else has had a go.

Hi Dave
Just listened to that piece and I agree it would suite. Certainly worth a try at least. My only reservation is the very long note that is held midway through the piece. Debating on C6 or E13 listening to some of the intervals, but yes certainly doable. :)

I suppose one way out of the long note is play the note then grab an ebow to extend it. :o More money.

You rotten bugger Dave :o I just had to open up my shed at 7.30 in the morning and have a go - couldn't resist it.

Yes it is a goer on C6 in the key of D. Think I will make this my next project. I hear flavours of Buddy Emmons in this and I just hope he is looking down giving me some help - if only. I am also looking at this in another way in that it is bloody good practice to get feeling in to those notes and effective use of the bar.

Suppose I had better get one of those suites with the tails to play it at a festival, and wear a dicky bow

One thing for sure Mick - I never thought I'd see the day that I'd see Lloyd's 'The White Light' played on a non pedal. When you consider that Lloyd was using a pedal steel combined with slants, what you did at the weekend was nothing short of astounding. :o

Thanks for that Ken. When I first looked at it I never dreamed that I would achieve it. Then you slid up quietly and said "Show me those slant you use in White Light. That is a moral booster if ever there was one.
Today I went in to my den and played some stuff on E9 pedal after hearing what you boys were doing - but after todays comments and private messages I think I will do a bit more with the lap steel. Seems I have found a niche.
