Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the info. I think some of my troubles began because I left guitars alone for 30 odd years due to smashing my left wrist badly, while I was racing...not complaining though. I have always loved music, could sing and keep up and in tune, then I started making the solid body guitar thinking..I will raise the nut, but then it went from there to making the first LSG. You are so right when you say they are damned hard to get to grips with...if I don't persevere it wont be me, I am a glutten for punishment, so are my neighbours    The sound I make at times..has the local cats putting cheese in their ears
So I will continue...because I will not be beaten, I've come through too many racing accidents and others to be put off something I want to do and will do.

I found Joe Wrights videos very useful in learning some harmonies

Hi Roger,
Thanks for the reply and the link...now please don't get me wrong, I appreciate the info, but I have a thing about Joe Wright. He is a fantastic picker, but...I can't stand his act...taking the P*** out of people who have a disablity or a handicap. His act leaves me cold and angry (lord knows that ain't too difficult), but when someone has a god given talent to play a steel guitar, why spoil it by acting out this type of character and offending many who have troubles physically and mentally. No wonder he is finding work difficult to find. I am not perfect by a long way and to go out of ones way to be offensive to those who have no possibilty of changing their looks, thoughts or facial expressions is to me beyond the pale. Yes there was a time when it was possible to have an act such as his...in the '50's and '60's but they don't exist today save but a few...thank goodnesss.
I know you mean't well with your suggestion and I thank you, but I will decline the offer of the link.

Interesting to note that he did all that quite a while ago. I suspect he has realised that all that gurning show-off idiocy alienated people. He plays far better than I could ever hope to be, I do think he's learned to let his playing do the talking!

Hi Will,

As diplomatic as ever, your profession comes in handy it cools me down. I know he did the act at Dallas, and maybe you are right in what you say. The man has great talent there is no denying it, but I still can't take to him...sorry.

On a lighter note I have just had the Programme for the Country Rendez Vous at Craponne sur Arzon 24th to the 26th July. I went 4 years ago and it was out of this world...the acts were fantastic so were many of the campers, the jam sessions were a wonder to listen to. I hope I can make it again this year.

I will also promise to get a sound bite of the three planks I have made.

Hi Maurice
I don't know what style you like best, but Cindy Cashdollar has a couple of excellent videos on Western Swing for C6 steel guitar - perhaps these will help: http://www.cindycashdollar.com/dvds/
cheers, Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the info...I have both. Video and tabs for the fist video covers two tunes only, with quite a lot of techie bits. Video two is quite complex and has 3 complete tunes, but they are in my book too advanced for me...

But thanks for thinking about my inadequacies.

Hi Ken,

I can only get some of the highlights, but Rossi really deserves a good run, what is happening to Pedrosa? Is he having ops for his arm pump?
Hope you've got your passport for Anglesey. The land of the Bards, Druids and those with the sight into the future!!! Have a great time seeing your old friend, he's not quite as old as us though is he?

I am using a speed pick at present to try and even out the picking, seems to be working...only time will tell.
