Peter I'm sorry I clicked the wrong button and submitted the reply without giving you a mention as well. Some of us by the sound of it all have some form of difficulty to work round, but the info is always welcome.

Thank you

Morning Peter,
1. We are in a minority because we choose to be different.
2. Being different has always been something I do without thinking.
I look back on my road racing career and I was always different in as much as I was always as clean and tidy as I could be and my motorbikes were immaculate.
The same is happening now with my home made lap steels and solid body guitar...they are different. Like you, you made tour lap steel, that makes you different, but we both know that just making an instrument is just the answer. Many don't have what we have, so they buy their instruments, and I have to admit that they all play them better than me, but I just love what I'm doing and what noise I make is my noise, be it good or bad.
I came to lap steel late, but I'm like a kid in the proverbial sweet shop. Long may it last.
Plus this community has a camaraderie that I found in my racing days, where everyone was prepared to help others. This really brings home how things have change in many ways, because in most walks of life it is; self, self, self. But here it is help all the way.

Good morning Slimbo,
Thank you for the short vid. I have checked my position etc against your chosen one and find that I am with a gnat"s crotchet of all your recommendations. The only difference is in the bar...I have two a Dunlop 926 which I have found too light for me and also it is not the easiest to slide across the strings as the shat edge on the front has a tendency to dig in. The other is a Dunlop 920 which I have found OK if a little on the heavy side.
Tony RD has also given me lots of info. which mirrors most of yours, but like in all things personal preferences come into play. The one thing about this forum is that help is at hand from many quarters and for me it is invaluable.

Thank you. By the way do you know the Brentwood Taylor at Cholsey just north of Reading as my uncle was the landlord there for many years.

Hi Winerider, as you say, we all think on the same level, and it's good to pass info around.
Never had the option to work the pub, so no knowledge of the said gent, and I worked a few over the years around the Oxford area.
