Hi John - back from Spain already?
When you took the pickup out, did you have a close look at the wood inside? I have a pearloid covered Hofner lap steel, similar vintage and shape, and when I took a closer look inside I discovered it was made from genuine english plywood. I put a set of strings on and the guages I took from Brads Page of Steel so they were rather heavy.. Lots of retuning as the guitar bent.

.......They seem to go for between £300-£400 in good condition.

A little bit optomistic there...in my view at any rate!

.....Just 'cos it's old....don't necessarilly mean it's worth a lot.....
