Look, I know this is an ancient thread BUT - I keep coming back to it an it appears that EVERY lap steal available in the UK is on the naughty list. So should UK players not take up the lap steal unless they can import sole luthier built instruments from overseas? Or is this just cork-sniffing gone mad?

I am rather surprised that the Revelation has been listed. These guitars are made in China granted but the production is overseen by Alan Entwhistle, an English luthier who actually lives in China near the factory. He also oversees the Burns range of guitars as well as R and D for Burns and also has his own Enwhistlle brand which is successful and by all accounts very well made. He also will listen so if you have any ideas on style and criticism I would suggest getting in contact with him. The pickup listed has probably got the Ceramic magnets so therefore a lot brighter than usual I just wonder what he could do for an 8 string up market.

Having said all that I have never tried one - I've got more than enough now.
ShoBud 6139 - Remington Steelmaster - George Boards 8 String - Gretsch Country Gent - National Twin 8 Console x 2 - National New Yorker and a shed full of guitars.

The Revelation RLS-STD is only 21" Scale length..NOT recommended as it's shorter than the normal short-scale 22.5" so strings would be a problem off the shelf, and also intonation errors would be more noticeable because of the closer gap between the frets...

Here is a cheap alternative to an 8 string lap steel. Just make a modified nut and you have an 8 string lap steel for £135 inc P&P

Re: BEWARE LAP STEEL TO AVOID?...but WANTED

Dear forum users.
I thought this would be a good place to start my search for an RLS DLX. If you actually own a ''Revelation RLS DLX'' or know someone happy to sell...or you've seen one in your local charity shop? Here's your chance to off-load it at a good price. The only catch? It is in reasonable condition and you are happy to find a box and post it to Holland. If so, I would be very interested in acquiring it. I will of course pay postage (UK/Europe only). If Holland sounds too daunting...I can provide a UK address if you prefer. (...either Southend or St Albans UK). Please note: not RLS STD model...it must be the RLS DLX version.

Thanks
