Replacement Pickup for Epiphone Electar

Postby Will » Sun Nov 10, 2024 5:48 pm

Can anyone here suggest a really good replacement pickup for my Epiphone Electar?

The stock pickup is really rubbish and the sound is terrible. On another forum a contributor mentioned having a custom-made pickup by JAG guitars here in the UK, but the website is down and their FB page hasn't posted anything since 2018, so I'm thinking they've gone bust:

Any help would be appreciated.

I just had one made by Old Bones Pickups for my Pierce pedal steel. He came over and measured up the old pickup and then we chatted about magnets, wire size etc and he came up with a good replacement.

Hi, I put an old (1980's?) Dimarzio jazz bass pickup in mine that I had sitting around and hugely improved the tone! That stock pickup seemed lifeless to me. It's also got Certano benders on it now which just about fit!
