From Lap to Console

Postby Brettus Maximus » Tue Sep 20, 2016 4:05 pm

Hey there.

Does anybody have any experience or knowledge of building, or buying, a table/case/something which can be used to 'convert' a lap steel to a console steel?
I'm looking to incorporate my electric lap steel and my weissenborn into my bands' lineup, I play a standard strat most of the time, and really need to be able to quickly and comfortably switch between instruments.
Some kind of table would do, but I'm really hoping to find a more elegant solution.

So, any ideas, good people?

Big thanks,
Brett.

Brett, since you will also be playing your Strat, why not go for a simple folding keyboard stand. There are always lots available on eBay and have the advantage that you can play sitting or standing.
Good luck in your search,
Keith.

That's exactly the kind of well-informed advice I was hoping to receive.
Thanks indeed! :D

Or you could do like junior brown and git yourself a guit-steel which is a lap steel (on the bottum) and a six-string on the top.

Or if you have access to a Time machine you could set it to 1937 and I'm sure my dad (in photo) would tell ya where he got his, hehe.

My folding zimmer frame does the job well.
