Stringmaster Pickups

Here's my latest steel - a single 8 made from an orphan Stringmaster neck and some parts left over from my quad restore project.

I've never had a single 8 before.

One part I dodn't have was the pickups. Matt at Monty's guitars, here in London built me a pair, based on the ones I have in my quad and, although I haven't yet had a chance to do an AB comparison with the originals, I can say they sound great. He's now selling them along with his other pickup range so we now have a source of Stringmaster pickups on this side of the pond.

He's also great with rewinds, having already rewound some trapezoid pickups (and built a special rig to allow him to do this) which most people apart from Jason Lollar and Seymour Duncen won't even look at and he will probably be able to handle pretty much any weird and wonderful pickup you cae to send him.

I also didn't have any of the diamonds for the front and back but these ones made from pickguard material look pretty good, I reckon.

The pickup covers were printed for me on a 3D printer!!!!

From the bridge to the centre of the nearest pickup is 1" and the pickups are 1.5" apart.

This is the same for both medium and short scale Stringmasters but mine is a short scale at 22.5"

The pickups are wired as standard for Stringmasters with one of them always on (can't remember which) and the other blended in using a volume control under the bridge cover in humbucking mode.
