E13 (Leon McAuliffe)

Postby henry » Sun Oct 18, 2015 10:49 pm

Anyone got any pointers on Leon's E13
Jeff Mead came round the other day and very kindly showed me some stuff, but I've been finding it hard to find info on the internet.

Are there any resources out there for Leon's E13?

Cheers,

Henry..

Interesting, maybe an xmas present!

when you say 'hard to miss' do you mean there are resources out there I am missing?

I know the notes of the tuning, I was really looking for usage examples + any related theory
I know the bottom strings are a partial E9 and the top are an E6

any more links appreciated! :guitar:

I liked this version of All Blues for example https://woodshedsteel.wordpress.com/201 ... iffes-e13/

Is there any chance of Jeff Mead putting something in this post of what he showed you. Like you I struggle to find my way around. I would love to be able to sit in somewhere and just ad lib with confidence on E13. I use E13 with an added G# on the top string so not far off E9.

I'm thinking if there is a specific list of things you need or are missing we could analyse together and find the answers.

Example:

You need an inversion of R, M7, M3 for your major 7ths - voicing
or you need to find out how to do m7b5 or 7thb9 etc.

Let's figure this out together. I posted his tuning here for you ton print out. And analyse.

I can see:
M7
m7
7th
m7b5
6th
6th9
sus2
sus4
9th voicing
Not really nice 13th but that depends on what inversion you like
Don't see any b9 either

Lots to still enjoy but it would suck as a solo instrument. it feels almost like a 6 string tuning with 2 extra strings for soloing
