Good job Maurice.

I would say that if you practice the Ionian scale really slowly it really helps. More than anything else.

Learn it up and down the neck then try and learn some of your favourite music.

Learning the Ionian scale takes time. It's memory first then muscle memory. If you do that music will start to rapidly become available because you will improve ear, accuracy, intonation, timing, and execution.

Be patient it takes time. Oh and the metronome should be your best friend.

Mmm Stefan,

Not too sure of all you are saying. I know some of the Ionian scales, not all. As to metronmoes I've used one for years, from the old mechanical to the modern electronic and it does have it's uses, but it doesn't improve my playing, when the memory just isn't up to it. Thanks for the thumbs up for the 1st attempt..attempt 2 is better. Coming back to music after many years, is no way to progress quickly, I know, but it's still better to try your hardest and do your best even if it is somewhat crappy.

In my book it's better to try and fail than never trying at all. That's why I've never failed at anything!!!!! I just keep plugging away at whatever I do even if some wish I would stop trying.  :D

Just learn C Ionian scale.

Inside and out. If not then learn the minor pentatonic scale and play blues , rock, pop but you will be limited like a basic blues player but not much memory involved. Just a lot of repetition.

But that kinda goes for anything
