About 20years ago a non-playing electrician I knew said he had "an old metal guitar" in his shed. Something about one of his National Service mates. Did I want it? Not really. But he gave it to me anyway, and I was delighted that it was a lap steel, having given up on the PS some years before. I had no idea what else it might be, but found that it had a great sound, evocative of a bygone era. Following painstaking research on the internet, which for me was invented about 10years later, I was gobsmacked to discover that it was certainly a Supro made between 36-39.
The only inconsistency is that where you expect to find the Supro logo there is a Selmer london sticker. So my question is: what was it doing in Essex in the 50's? Did Selmer import and brand Supros?
