Lap Steel Meeting?

Fri Sep 11, 2015 9:46 am

Is anyone aware of any meetings in the south Suffolk/north Essex area for lap steel players. My interest for lap steel tends to be western swing or thereabouts.
If not - would anyone be interested in starting such a meet. Any style as we can all learn from each other.

Mick seems a bit mean to exclude the peddlers plus your gonna need`em to help pay for the shed........
My interest re planks is the same as yours but I know buggerall about it, Your welcome to come over here but you will not learn anything from me on my plank :?

John. No-one is excluded given the fact that most pedal steel players use twin necks (I could never afford one) and already have a C6 tuning. What I demonstrated with the National was using the C6 tuning - and I have heard you mess around on C6. The differnece is that I will use bar slants whereas you probably have a pedal to do most things. Apart from the fact that you will be able to get a lot more wonderful chords out of yours than I would.

The lap steel interest with a lot of players ranges from western swing to overdriven blues as well as Hawaiian and the number of tunings used is tremendous.

The request was a passing thought. Once I am back from hols I will come over one day and we can swop licks.

Who knows, I might even do a teaching video for Sunny Side showing how I did it.

oooh this sounds like a great idea. When where? I am in north london but can drive depending on what time of week and day. Usually sundays are good cause of free parking. :)

Just added some more audio to my blog. Check it out when you have a chance. I'm into anything that has feelings and lots of nice chords. :P

All audio recording are lap steel. no guitar was used in the making of any recordings.

Let the lap steel revolution start here in the uk. Let's jam.
