Deluxe single 8

Fri Jul 18, 2014 11:05 am

What's a fair price for a Fender Deluxe single 8 with the trapezoid pickups and a case in fairly good condition?

I've seen one for £995 but that seems a bit high to me.

Complete with legs look to spend about £500-600 for it.
Without legs and case expect about £400.

I would rather get a custom 12 string designed. Mine cost me in total plus shipping about £600 from the US Bill Hatcher made it to my exact specs. Much better investment.

I didn't think this model ever came with legs

I have one of these (with legs) and I paid around £600 for it about four years ago, including original case (damaged logo). Lovely guitar. Its got that classic Fender sound.

Do you know what year it is? Are you sure the legs weren't added at a later date? (do the legs fit in the case?).

Maybe it was a special order?

Would love to see pictures.

Yes, I bet it sounds great - love those trapezoid pickups. I've got a double neck and a triple neck but wouldn't be able to resist a single to complete the family if one came along at the right price!

Sorry, Jeff, mine doesn't have the trapezoid pickups, just the plain black plastic covers. I reckon it's from around 1964. It is the same (except it's dark brown) as the 8-string in this picture:

Yes, that explains it - yours is the slightly more recent model. I knew those came with legs (although I have a feeling they also did some without as well).
