Hogans Dream

Tue Feb 19, 2019 8:19 pm

Thought I would have a go on this on lap steel. Not as easy converting as I thought therefore I have exercised some artistic licence especially at the end.

Mick
You have had trouble "converting" this to sound cloud as this link won't open,we are unable to hear your version, don't know what you've done wrong but it has nothing to do with your guitar playing ability :P :guitar:
Looking forward to your second attempt at "converting" this tune, with or without artistic licence.  :guitar:
Cheers Robert

Mick, That was fantastic, great tone, and interpretation, how you do it I don't know, brilliant. Donny.

Donny. Change the key and give it a go, or, if you have retained the Duesenberg tuning which I believe is open D it should not be too much of a problem. You may have to play the first part an octave higher but it should work with those changers. The original key is D.

I totally agree with "brilliant Donny" , you have made a great job of this one and shown a lot of skill in your playing.
Don't worry about "artistic licence" you'll get away with anything playing like this, the ending takes a bit of doing to get it sounding the way you did, Lloyd had the advantage of mechanical stops on his pedals and levers, you've managed it all by using your left hand.
I can only add my congratulations on your playing of this tune, it was well worth playing it through a bigger amp to bring up all the tonal quality and use of slants and I recommend other listeners do the same, as listening through an iPad is not good enough for this one!
Keep them coming
Robert
P. S.
It's not often I agree with Lord Donald, let alone put it in writing as well, but I'll make an exception in this case

Thanks for that boys - appreciated.

Robert - I am plugged in to my Cube 80 and then line out to the computer. This is the one thing you can hear on Lloyds version and that is the sound of his speaker and the fact it is miked up. Really makes a difference.
