The choice of amplifiers for PSG from Roland offers

Postby tonii » Sun May 26, 2019 6:47 pm

Hello everyone!

I should buy an amplifier for pedal steel guitar but I'm not sure which of these three models would be the best choice.
In local advertisements are currently available these models; Roland GC-408, Roland Cube 80XL and Roland Cube 80X.
The first (Roland GC-408) I had a chance to try and the sound is great, unfortunately the other two models I have never played but on the Steel Gtr Forum Cube 80XL has a very good rating.
I also do not know what the difference is between Cube 80XL and Cube 80X so every advice was of great use to me.
I thank you in advance for advice.

Best Regards!

the 80x and the 80xl ....to a steel player I don't think there is a difference the 80xl has a few more gizmos for the 6 string players but basic amp is the same either one turns into a monster when you fit a 300 watt JBL E120 speaker

I am pretty sure the XL means Extra Loud.
I have an 80 xl which has proved to be very steel friendly with the cleaner settings,I have used mainly the JC Clean,The Blackface and the accoustic with a little delay and reverb. The amp will perform well in medium sized gigs and excells as home amp with headphone and line in jacks which will please the neighbours.
Best regards

Hi Toni,
I think the XL has a looper function. I've got the newer, 80 watt, GX model, no blooper, and it sounds great on the JC Clean mode.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of these amps.
