Inappropriate use of PSG

This is where you can rest a while and discuss anything - doesn't have to be steel guitar related!

Inappropriate use of PSG

Postby Danny Mitchell » Sun Nov 01, 2015 1:03 pm

Last night I had the temerity to take my beloved GFI Ultra keyless E9 PSG along to a Halloween pub gig with a function band. Having set up, I proceeded to shoehorn it into anything and everything. I can only say that I'm very glad there were no players to witness this debacle. It was, musically speaking, absolute sh:*e! However, it afforded me the opportunity to use the two licks i know in various musical scenarios as well as a bit of enumerated seat time......which was nice.
But......remarkably enough, where I thought I might be up for a public stoning for crimes against pop music, the punters, to a man, loved the sound??? It's a funny old world and, needless to say, the experiment shall continue. Caveat Emptor.
GFI Ultra keyless S10 4+5 Emmon's setup + Sigler, Li'l Izzy, Hilton volume pedal, Roland Cube 80gx, Joyo American Sound Pre-amp, Behringer VD400 Delay Pedal, Peterson Strobo Plus HD and a brace of bars, Ben's, Ezzee-Slide, Pearse, BJS, SIT nickel strings.

Aha, this wasn't the Jugband, Willie, far from it. This is me and 2 chanters, just about as far from live music as you can get. These shenanigans cover the Aldi bill! And would you really have liked to shoehorn your instrument into the likes of Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Cheryl Cole? Sadly, Shania never popped up on this occasion.

I think the man underrates himself

But yeah, agree with Tony. I think it's just the sound of a steel that people like, (what's not to like!), doesn't matter what you're playing, in fact probably the simpler the better. Which is just as well as far as my playing goes
