Am I the only one who doesn't do social media?

I don't do Facebook or Twitter. I suppose that makes me anti-social. My wife used to get really upset and embarrassed at things that our teenage grandchildren put on FB, and I had to persuade her to close down her account and not go on it any more. I could never see the point in any case, and find the whole thing a little narcissistic. Is it just me or does anyone else on here feel the same way?

It must be our ages guys

Dave, I hate to rub this in but it is hot and sunny here too at the moment. N. Dakota is on my 'to do' list of places to visit in the States. Perhaps you can feed back your holiday journals if you get time. Have a nice break.

Ken

Hi Ken,
Please add me to your list of social media haters. I think these sites are bad news, wouldn't it be good to see them closed but no chance of that.

Ken, yep its great to blame old age for anything we dont or dont want to understand :D
Trip- started in chicago,up the lakes to green bay, (home of the packers) to see the stadium, thento Lake Superior, then through Minnesota, now over the border a few miles past Fago, going accross state to Montana (done that before from other side) will then head south into SouthDakota visiting Mount Rushmore, then Iowa to spend 4th july with old muso friend, then back Chicago and home.
Will leave us with only four more states in US to visit, hopefully will tick em off before I pop me clogs :D
if you do decide to vist ND we have plenty maps and other info, you are welcome.
Pauline sends her regards.

JD! Its a long way down to Jimmies, he is ok, plus promised Pauline that this wouldnt be a steel guitar memory lane trip (poor gal has done em to death in the past).
Having said that, in a small town in minnesota i couldnt resist a nip into scruffy little music shop, guess what? Sitting there is a really tatty emmons D10 pp,originally rosewood but hand painted a camo style grey, no strings on back kneck, c6th undercarraige half gone, one tuner missing, loads of dings, loads of rust (think Baz,s old D10) satt down and would you believe the e 9th played like a dream, smooth as silk. Shop is holding it for owner who is out of town until Sept and cant be contacted, apparantly it is already under offer from someone local.
I am dragged out of the shop by Pauline and reminded of the time we had to leave clothes behind so I could bring home a Gretsch, and another occasion when we humped a knackered old ShoBud half way around the world only to sell it to you 9 years later :D
Bargains are still there John, but not in the cities.

I'm with you blokes on social media. It seems to be a substitute for real life. People go on about what busy lives they lead - well there's something they could cut out.

However, I can see some point to it for lonely people. As for the rest - ??????????

We've always had social media - even thousands of years ago. Cave paintings, graffiti in ancient Pompeii, message in a bottle, readers' letters in journals, newspapers, telephones, radio, TV, internet.... The only difference has been how fast and how much. I think they have a use, it's up to us to discipline ourselves to use them sensibly.

The Main problem I have with it is people just seem to slg each other off all time.
Don't see the point myself
