Hi guy's, this is an old question, but keeps comming up in conversation's, what's your view on line dancing, and how do you feel it's affected country club's, bands, and the public perseption of country music.
Are you yourself a member of the neck nip club, or do you play line dance clubs, could be an interesting subject as seen from the artist's side of the buisness.
I did a cd some years ago, in fact just after it started to get popular, probably why I get no invite's to work these clubs.

Slim,we can remember the good old days when there were some great bands out there working nearly every night of the week, so I personally don't like line dancing because in my honest opinion it was the ruination of the country clubs,it caused a lot of bad feelings because of the line dancers taking over the floor,I have seen fights in clubs because of this and that is IMHO what has ruined the country scene then we have the karaoke solo artist who can't sing a note in tune and just use a guitar as a prop,I have heard some absolute rubbish at my local club,and the club still keeps booking them.I bet there are a lot of the old boys that think the same way that we do.

Still have a master Cd if needed, mind, it's full of micky taking line dance song's.
The mentality of line dancers leaves one wondering where it's all going as they dance to anything not just country and should never have been allowed in country club's, thou some say they are the one's who keep country music going,CRAP.
Having left the ballroom at Pontins I was walking across the grass when I trod in some dog S**t, some one had a dog staying on the camp.
As I stood there whiping the muck off my shoes, right foot then left foot, I heard a noise behind, when I looked around there were line dancers copying my steps.
If you like line dancing, join a line dance club, don't take it into a country club, stay in your own back yard.

LOL Slim, that's classic. That is the best place for em in their own back yard as long as it don't back on to ours.

I must say I can’t help with agreeing with your comments.
As a busy steel player, I have now got to the stage where I look forward to playing at none line Dancing clubs.
I find it soul when really the audience really don’t care if the music is coming at them from a CD or a live band.
This is normally proven when the floor is just as busy when the band is taking their breaks

Looking over the steel, every night at the audience, I see the same bodies coming towards me, then away from me, and then to the left, then to the right, and sometimes even turning around, the only difference is at each club, they seem to be the same bodies only with different heads on.
How many of us bands have been a little way in to a number, only to see some of the dancers, still sitting, at their tables, moving their feet about to see if they can fit their steps to the song we are doing.
Bring back the good old days when the audience’s would dance properly, or just sit and listen.
Moan over!
