As prices are so good at the moment I have decided to sell my steel. This is custom built with 3 pedals & 5 knee levers, I am looking for serious offers around £25,000 or will exchange for Aston Martin DB5 with all Bond Gadgets or Agostini's 1953 MV Augusa. I may even consider a villa in Spain. By the way DOG NOT INCLUDED.

Would you be willing to knock 50 quid off?

Dave thats a give away price, have you really thought this through? pity its not a black one you could add another couple of grand to the price
On a seriuos not Dave, I know where your coming from with all this, we have all paid over the odds to get the steel we have drooled about but some of the prices being asked now are definately OTT. Prob is guys out there will pay for em, even though a lot of the steels are old, knackered, been altered out of all recognition, fitted with parts from old washing machines, bits of scrap etc with the work done by home tinkerers who sometimes wreck the original steel, then! go ask an inflated price resulting in some unsuspecting newbie
being sold a bummer.
I aint fair Dave but I doubt things will change I think they refer to it as market force. In this particular instance (sale of pedal steel guitars) some of the sellers on Ebay have a lot to answer for.
As regards Steve's offer - cheeky bugger will expect you to put strings on it next.

I put it on gumtree Roy but they said I was being mean because I wouldn't knock £50 off for some bloke, Steve somebody, and they took it off, saying I wasn't a genuine seller. It really is gett'n difficult these days. I'm thinkin' of becoming a trapist monk, at least I'll get free beer that way. Anyone fancy an Eccles cake???

By the way Dave I'm glad you agree with me, it's nice to know I'm not on my own on this, but like you say it'll not change as long as people are prepared to keep paying.

Yes Dave I agree 100% the price of used steels is getting bl'#dy stupid, because I see there is a another steel for sale at the moment that is IMHO... { for what that`s worth}... is way to much I have bought some really nice D10s in the past for a lot less, and there is a very nice D12 for sale that I am probably going to buy and that's less than what the guy is asking for this steel and the steel in question is not even a D10 .Ok maybe If it was in absolute mint condition it may be worth near what he is asking.
I do wish him good luck in selling and I am sure someone will buy it just because of the name on the front,.
Jimmy.

Blimey Dave why are you selling your Steel and for such a good price too do you have another one lined up ready to buy?. I was thinking about putting my Steel up for sale seeing as I'm now retired from the Country music scene and no longer play, what do you think my all original Black 1979 Emmons twin ten push pull 8+4 in VGC would be worth these days.
Mind you Angie has said She would sooner get rid of me than the Emmons so that should tell me what it's probably worth.
Got to go her in doors wants the washing up doing NOW!!!
See Yer hopefully

Hi Dave, been a long time. My advice is don't sell it because you won't get what it's worth. I know your guitar and it is one of the best examples I've seen. I had a Carter Starter and sold it for 500 quid, what I considered a fair price. I have just bought another Carter Starter which believe it or not sounds totally different (better) than the last one. It seems strange to me that folks will pay 8-900 quid and more for these pull release GFI's and ZUM's yet a guy struggles to get a descent price for a D12 Bud. I'm not saying GFI and ZUM are not good guitars but the ZUM Stage One isn't even made by ZUM. I just think that the people selling these guitars at inflated prices are not doing the reputation of steel guitar any good at all. Some folk are just plain greedy. Yes I Know I'm a miserable old git but a very fair one. By the way I hope your both well, we must get over to see you sometime, any good REAL ALE pubs near you??
Dave.
