Ego

I guess We have all met and played with people who have big ego's .
Let's hear Your tales.
I did,and still do a pub gig,one female singer I work with had the biggest ego I have come across.
Some examples,
When someone shouts "can You sing (any song title)? " her answer was "I can sing any song that was ever written"but the band do'nt know that one.
She would always say to Me during a gig that the guy(any guy) at the bar really fancied Her.
She announced over the mic that as She was preparing to leave home for the gig She had a look in the mirror and realised just how beautifil She looked,She actually says words to this effect quite regularly.
Occaisionally We would go to a concert or show and if there was a female singer on stage (one time it was Heather Myles,another was Emmylou) She would nudge Me and tell Me that She can sing a particular or songs song better than they could.
I once showed Her a video of a few of our songs in the pub,Her first and subsequent comments were "oh I look lovely there".
She once told Me that people did not come to see the band,they only came to see Her. I do'nt need a band says She,I could fill this pub with only a drum M/C I announced that next week that is exactly what She would be doing.She did call the band during the week and made sure they would be in.

Billy - in the late 70's I backed Ricky Valance for a few weeks. Ricky had, lets say, an interesting perception of himself at that time. Often I find the people with the most talent have the smallest egos when it comes to singers. Val Doonican and Barbara Dickson are the two people who spring to mind who are the most down to earth artists that I have worked with. I suppose as performers we all have some type of ego needed to get up on stage and perform. Its just those with inflated egos who are the worst.
