Is it me or is there a time limit imposed on replying to, or composing topics ?
I've spent a long time composing replies to topics etc and have found that when I come to post them having pressed the submit button, not only does it not post up, I get a message that I have to log in......which I have already done. I log in and return to the article and I have lost it all. This has occured several times and makes me reluctant to respond or initiate topics and is so f*****g annoying...... Is it me or is there a time limit imposed somewhere ?

From the FAQ

Why do I get logged off automatically?
If you do not check the Log me in automatically box when you login, the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else. To stay logged in, check the box during login. This is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, university computer lab, etc. If you do not see this checkbox, it means the board administrator has disabled this feature.

Don't know how long the preset time is...

I'm using Windows internet explorer and BT...does that help ?

I tick the box everytime, but when I log off and on again, I have to sign in again. I thought the ticked box was to keep me signed in on my computer all the time. I use a cleaner at the end of the day....would that remove my tick ?

AOL is just an alternative ISP, but you're with BT so it's not that....

The timeout for logins is set to 2 hours.

I've reduced some session checking features to be less strict. Do let me know if this problem continues....

Yes, your login info is stored in a cookie, which these cleaners will probably remove. You might be able to change the settings to keep certain cookies, so keep the one from thebritishsteeliessociety.co.uk if you can.

Baz, compose your answer in "Word" first, that way you'll have grammar and spell check before you post.
Just view the relevant post until you're ready to reply, and when you're ready, then hit the reply button, it should then be a simple "Copy/Paste" function that would take less than 20 seconds.

Basil - you beat me to it. This is the method that I use (I am an AOL user). I use it on the US forum too.

Don't log out! When you log out the cookie that tells phpBB that you have clicked on keep logged in will be removed! Just close the site...
