Here We go,
Apologies for the obvious reference to a recent topic.
We have probably all experienced the situation when someone(probably a fundemental orifice) :) informs You that You are wrong in liking a particular Artist or genre of music and they then proceed to tell You what is "good music"
I do'nt usually "take the bait"and end up fighting, I rather prefer to say that I disagree with His taste and point out that music is a personal thing and enjoy what You like but let others enjoy what they like.
I was never a Beatles fan and when I tell(some) people this I get all sorts of derision etc.,
I thought it may be interesting to start this thread and ask members to name Music, bands or artists that they do not care for, perhaps give reasons(or none) The only stipulation is that the artist or band must be an "accepted" popular Band.
Let's see if We can do it without throwing nitrogenous matter at one another.
I never really liked Hank Williams but His music is outstanding.
I do'nt care for Opera but I like Operetta.
Best regards
Billy

well Billy, i'd like to state that i can't stand them Scottish bag pipes
considering they're such a powerfull instrument, it was my understanding they were considered to be weapons & were banned by the crown
so what happened ?
they've been more prolific than ever especially since they were shipped out to Canada, & New Zealand
why even the jerries on d day did'nt like' em either
i dislike opera too Billy

There's an Irish singer called John Hogan, he's probably a great bloke, and his songs are nice little tunes, the only problem is that I find his style of singing to be extremely irritating.
He is the pub singer par excellence

Likes: most country, (obviously) blues, rock, heavy metal, some pop and some dance/ Trance.
Dislike: opera. it's like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. never been a huge Jazz fan, and hate Rap/ R&B. (dont even get me started on that title!!!) and like wise, don't mind the beatles, but I don't think they're the be-all and end-all!

Billy get your ‘Kilt Oot the Pon! We may have to give Mr Schmitt a duet on the pipes! Maybe ‘wee bit of harmony’ will sweeten the pill.
Hey James you must come to the Edinburgh tattoo some year, awesome spectacle with hundreds of pipers from all nations! ;)
As for Opera, Ballet and the likes I’m just a tad wary of anything too large in a pair of tights!
Tony you’ve really confused me now I thought George Formby was a male singer with a wee banjo! (UKE) :guitar:
Liked that little Irish tune myself Richard and the slide show was good!
My only dislike is music without a melody, the repetitive crap that sounds like it has been put together in a hamster’s wheel.

Bob,
I bet ole Crowbear can make the French Horn sound like bag pipes :)
A couple of years agi We visited Nashville and at The Wheel(on Broadway) We had a long talk with Mike Sweeney before the performance. At half time His Drummer came to speak with us,having found out We were from Glasgow Scotland,He said "You must know"... Angus McDonald and Lachie McPherson and he continued with a number of "Scottish" names. He went on to say that He was a great admirer of the Pipes and Drums and was a founder member of the Nashville pipe band, You could have knocked Me down with a haggis :) A little while later Mike told us that the drummer was none other than Willie Cantu who played for Buck owens during Buck's best years.
Another of my musical likes....A marching band Be it Pipes and Drums Brass or any other instruments.
The Tattoo, Sadly I regret never having been there but I watch it on TV and love it.
Come to Scotland folks and give us Yer money :)
Billy

Likes - Country, Western Swing, Old Time, Bluegrass, Blues, Rock, Heavy Metal, Dance (Trance/Techno/House), some Classical, oh and Girls Aloud, for their music of course! 8-)

Dislikes - Chart music, X Factor, Rap.

I don't like steel guitar instrumentals much. Sorry. It's great for showcasing someone's talent especially on a medium like YouTube, but I couldn't listen to an album of it in one sitting. With the backing tracks some of it reminds me of lift music a bit.

I much prefer hearing the steel in the context of a song with a vocalist, other musicians etc.
