This is where you can rest a while and discuss anything - doesn't have to be steel guitar related!

James Sommerfield

Postby Davie Holland » Sat Feb 25, 2023 6:30 pm

Just received this vis email;
Hello,
My name is James Summerfield. I am currently recording my seventh album and require a pedal steel player to record remotely on 5 or 6 new tracks. We are an alternative country band – we sound a bit like Midlake, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Sparklehorse etc.

It would be unpaid but good for the soul! We have our own studio in Birmingham so if you wanted to visit one day then you’re welcome (although I understand we are far away!)

I've attached a few tracks (unfinished) to give you an idea of what we sound like.

If you’re interested then please email me.

Thank you

My Reply....

Dear James.

Thank you for considering me to play on your album. I must admit this really sounds like an interesting project. I in return, work for an organization in Scotland who would love to have you and your band put on a show for us, as we regularly put on events that may suit your genre of music.
It would be unpaid of course, but just think of the publicity playing for around two to three hundred appreciative guests.
Our venues are of top quality and if you wanted to visit us one day, I`m sure we could give you the grand tour. I also do understand that you are indeed quite far away and totally understand the predicament.
Another good idea would be for you to bring lots of albums that you could give away for free to the guests, as this would indeed be really good for the soul.

If you are interested, please email me

Thank You
