THE RISE OF THE ROBOTS!.....be afraid!

This is where you can rest a while and discuss anything - doesn't have to be steel guitar related!

THE RISE OF THE ROBOTS!.....be afraid!

Postby Danny Mitchell » Mon Oct 18, 2021 8:44 am

Whilst on my, never ending, search for Studio Porn :o
(isn't t'internet marvellous), I happened upon this clip.

Gawd 'elp us! Soon the knob twiddlers will be cutting our grass!

And, whilst on the subject of Studio Porn  , how about those three Beatles films that are coming up on Disney+........oh baby.

It is pretty amazing that they've replicated the sheer incompetence of Steven Hicken Jr.
Maybe I should request royalties.
Kind Regards, Steven Hicken Jr.

Ha, ha, excellent idea Steven. The really sad thing is, it kicks my ass.

To be fair to it, it is probably the most realistic one I've heard.
I know there's that expensive one producers and singers raved about a year or so ago but that really did sound like ass. This sounds pretty good but still lacks certain dynamics of a good steel player...at least the tone sounds pretty realistic though.

Danny, I've thought about the rise of the robot steels too haha, but I don't think we have too much to worry about. People who don't know how to actually play the steel guitar will struggle to program in realistic, convincing parts, IMO.

Zak, spot on. Also, when they sell these VSTi's, they seldom mention the amount of articulations and controllers you have to apply to make them sound anything like the real thing.

Donny, I apologise for the amount of gobbledegook in the clip, but as you know, gobbledegook is my second language, coming a close second after talking sh%te!
It was really only the little intro, with the 'ersatz' steel, that I thought might be of interest to fellow forumites, in a sort of, 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter', way.
