The Alternative Tone Bar

As I was browsing the forum, I chanced upon a comment from Nevada Keith, in the wanted section, that made me laugh.
He'd jokingly asked if the poster was using a 'black pudding' for a tone bar  and, I wondered if this would help when you're playing music of black origin, i.e. the blues etc?
Would 'a little stick of Blackpool rock' enhance a song from the music hall genre?
You can see where I'm going with this, suggestions please.

Perhaps a shammy clothe for 'when I'm cleaning windows'!
