A story of extreme kindness.

This is where you can rest a while and discuss anything - doesn't have to be steel guitar related!

A story of extreme kindness.

Postby Ken Byng » Wed Mar 25, 2020 9:16 am

We had an act of extreme kindness this morning when a young lady who lives half way down our road spoke to Diana my wife, and asked her if we were short of anything as we are in lockdown. Diana mentioned that we were out of bread, eggs, milk, potatoes and cooking spread. The lady concerned walked straight down to the small local shop and purchased the items and brought them back to us.

At first she refused to accept payment, but we insisted that she take it. How kind is that? This level of public spirited behaviour just restores confidence in human nature. We didn't know the lady concerned, but she said that her name was Heather and that she was a school teacher. School teachers are off work because most schools have closed Thank you Heather, you are a star!

The saying goes that this type of event brings out the best and worst in people. We've been hearing a lot of the worst, it's nice to hear an example of the best. TBH I think the best probably outweighs the worst by a large factor but the worst makes the headlines more often.

Lovely story Ken, It restores your faith in the kindness of people.

And you and yours too Donny. It's giving me a great excuse to work on my steels and put plenty of constructive practice in. I'm really hoping that the two English steel festivals will be able to go ahead this years.
