Hi all
Yesterday I had the chance to play my steel through a 100W Marshall stack with 4x12 cabinet. I must confess to being a bit sceptical about what to expect but OMG, it was good! Very good! Now to work on forgetting the experience in case I start thinking about a bigger car with boot space for a 4x12.........

What was the context of your try out? A solo blast, or were you sitting in with a band?

I once used a Marshall combo, with two 12 inch speakers, during a wee jam, but I found it lacked that full range body, 'Mae West', if you will, and was more, 'Claudia Winkleman', thin and middly and annoying.

It was rehearsing with a band in Berkeley. I was surprised how easy it was to get my sound. There is something nice about sound coming from a large area as with a 4x12 rather than the point source thing you get with a small combo. Hadn’t considered using different women as a sound description before. I like it. To sound guy- “can you give me a bit more Cybill Shepherd and slightly less Vera Lynn.”

When Calum posted about a Marshall stack and you gave some female comparisons
thoughts of Raquel Welsh and Sophia Loren came to my mind.
Unfortunately I can only manage a sound in between Hattie Jacques and Twiggy,
and if appealing to a " sound engineers " female side or any feminists reading this post, that's
a comparison between Robbie Coltrane and Charles Hawtry!

Does this mean I have to lug my Marshall down from the attic now

It does have a nice pair of Celestions right enuff

If you have been keeping up the training regime with your bullworker hauling the Marshall down from the attic should not be a problem, getting it back will be a different story, so think ahead.
Just picture how the nice pair of celestions will look with your head stuck between them as your age catches up with you halfway back up the ladder

At which point I'd fall off the ladder and the celestions will have their revenge

TBH I'm loving the sound I'm getting from the Super Twin, almost worth the new exercise regime
