Steelers - what was your "fish hook" moment?

This is where you can rest a while and discuss anything - doesn't have to be steel guitar related!

It had been a niggle at the back of my mind for years to take up steel guitar, I enjoyed playing bottleneck on 6 string and seemed the natural way to go.

The actual fishhook moment was when I went to see Hogans Hero's at the Rothes Halls in my town, Gerry played a harmonic piece on the pedal steel and I thought I want to do that, I'm still trying :D

I've listened to country music for years but mine was actually after talking to a chap in Spain (Guillermo Berlanga), an amazing player and such a nice guy. we talked over the phone for a while and then spent loadsa time answering my emails (doubts, tuning, what models... anything and everything).

I then found out about this forum and after reading Slimbo's posts and watching his youtube vids I was infected with the bug.

a few days later I spoke to Guillermo again and he said - just buy one. And I'm so glad I did!
