Scammers

Postby Zumbilly(Murdoch) » Thu Jul 08, 2010 8:56 am

I was looking in a particular section of Gumtree(for a pet bird) and came across an advert which stated that the owner was moving and could'nt take His/Her bird with them, they would give the bird free to a good home.
I requested more info and after some time I received an e mail telling me that The owner lived in the ISLES of Man and the bird woild be IN My doorstep within six hours for an air freight fee of £140 which I would pay to the delivery person.
All I had to do was provide My name, phone number and full address.
I spotted the scam easily due to the obvious bad grammer.
What would a scammer do with My address and phone number, this is a fairly easy piece of info for anyone to obtain.
By the way If anyone has a '66 Emmons D10 for sale I will be extremely pleased to have at Your disposal the suggested cost of the item at the place of Your residence in a very short number of hours.

Hi Zum. I came across a similar obvious scam whilst looking for a puppy (dog). Ad said it was in my area (Berks),but when I enquired via e-mail,it turned out to be in Isle of Man.It would be sent in a suitable crate to my home for same air freight cost of £140 plus cost of dog. All they needed was my name, address and telephone number. This ad also had bad grammer and was clearly a scam.Glad to I wasn,t that dumb to follow it through and lose my dosh.
