There I was, at the ironing board, taking the creases out of my underpants (isn't retirement a wonderful thing....I'm living the dream) and listening to Glen Campbell's final recordings. An album, touchingly, called Adios. The first half of this is new material and, considering Glen's age and the cruel condition he was suffering from, it's a great listen

His voice is still doing it, the songs and instrumentation are seriously tasty

There's some beautiful steel, that I think is Mike Johnson ('nuff said) and the acoustic guitars are so well captured. A poignant version of Funny How Time Slips Away with Willie Nelson and a tremendous version of a Roger Miller song, Am I All Alone, with killer harmonies from Vince Gill
Along with American Grandstand, This Highway and now Adios, what a good month this has been for quality country music

.....Now where did I put my peenie?..........that's an apron, and not anything salacious, as some of you Southern types might have envisaged
