My first Pro Guitar & the Day Setup

Postby Heartland Balladeer » Wed Jan 07, 2015 8:25 am

I picked up my new guitar form John Davis lastnight and man, what a difference it is to play a pro model. Things are now falling into place.

I was a bit concened that the guitar was Day set up as my student model is Emmons, and worried that what little I have learned would need to be learned again, but in the hour I got to play it last night it has actually propelled me forward. I have no doubt the quality of the instrument has alot to do with it but the set up seems to suit me.

I initially asked John to convert the Gutar to Emmons for me but he gently pesuaded me to give Day a go and Im glad he did.

Dont know where this is going but just thought I would share the experience.

Hi Darren, glad the "fire sale" was a success. I'm sure that you will come on in leaps and bounds with the new guitar. I was the same as you with doubts about the Day set-up until the penny drops. Now it's just second nature, still can't play, but it's easier to find those bum notes. Did JD throw in any sausage rolls as a bonus? All the best. :?

Darren
Ergonomically, both Emmons and Day set ups will get you where you want to be. I prefer the Day set up for foot comfort on the pedals, I have found that the biggest drawback with playing Day pedals is that it is tricky playing a guitar set up as Emmons. Also selling a guitar set up in Day mode can take longer these days.

Good luck to you on your musical journey with the GFI. :D

Harry,

I missed a trick there. No sausage rolls were included in the deal.

Ken,

Thanks for the well wishing, I ended up going for the ShoBud Pro1 instead of the GFI, I love the look of those old steels and the tone is just what i like to hear.
I was thingking about future sale and if it would be more difficault to move a Day on down the line, but that should be a long while yet.
