I really don't know what to make of Bill Hankey.
I don't like the way that some people turn against him for daring to use words that they don't understand, so I do feel a need to defend him against the redneck and hillbilly tendency,( sometimes).
On the other hand my own command of the more extended regions of English vocabulary often lead to a realisation that not only is the language he uses convoluted, but the ideas expressed are even more twisted.
In my university days, I spent a lot of time reading the works of a Philosopher called Thorstein Veblen. He wrote in English, though his native language was Swedish, so he used to write using a thesaurus. Now the problem with a thesaurus is that two words that are said to mean the same thing, don't always mean the same thing.
"A sinister portal" supposedly means the same as "a left handed door", but it doesn't really.
Bill seems to do the same thing, in that his words do not seem to operate in the context he uses them.
My decision was that I would not mock him, but I would not read him either.
Lord, he writes some rubbish!
(Note that my own view is that if you can't explain something in simple language, you don't properly understand it)
