Dave I am sorry if you find yourself in line with my rant I count you among my friends ( all 5 of`em) and I mostley respect and value your input and help but I feel as passionate as anyone on here as regards our beloved contraption and I guess I am just coming at it from a slightly different angle........ I would welcome any post from buyers,sellers, meeting organisors, superstars, plank players, even lavatory cleaners as long as it pertains to steel guitar and keeps the interest alive and the thing ticking over......... I also think we are all of us still getting used to this wierd form of communication.... its not like having a chat down the pub... once you pressed the send button on here.... you can`t just take it back
Twood be nice if we had constructive helpful topics full of interest all the time but it seems its not like that in the real world...... But the help is available on here, anybody only has to ask and someone will chip in... and thats why I would prefer to keep positive about it and grateful for it... ( I still have nightmares about the site we had before this! )
I am a little dissapointed that the Rant part of my post got so much attention whereas the good positive part , all those guys pulling together to help pay for the hall for the steel meeting did`ent really draw a comment.
My apologies to anybody that was offended by my rant..... I cannot afford to lose any more of my friends and I will try not to do it agan........... I will continue to eat as much humble pie as is necessary to put things right... but I warn you, my belt is getting tighter and running out of holes to put the pin in

Sorry John I know I promised you a contribution towards the hall but I didn't realise you wanted it so soon. Gigs being as scarce as they are this year has left me a little short (5ft 61/2) but it will be in the post shortly. As for your rant I haven't been back in the ranks very long and since I don't consider myself a very accomplished player or a tech wizard I decline to get involved in most of the posts but I will continue to contribute to whatever I can for as long as I can (retirement to Turkey beckons) and hope someone benefits.

Hi Roy, And thank you for that, as I said before the shortfall on the hall the guys have covered for me but the raffle is looking a bit sparse .... so far we have a nice bottle of "Bell`s" and a thumb pick, though I am hopeing Becky will give us a few sets of strings to make it more interesting and any further contributions I receive will go towards beefing up the raffle as I hope to be able to give the backing band a contribution towards their fuel.

I think that possible the lack of posting by members is not because they are not interested, quite the reverse after all the majority are steel players. It may well be that they consider the question they would like to post are somewhat basic and rudimentry knowledge to most experienced steel player and they do not want to be seen as lacking in basic knowledge and make a fool of themselves in public. This site offers a wealth of people who are keen to go out of their way to help others, this in itself should be taken on board by all members who may be reluctant to post. Just my opinion.
