Patching help please

I have a Peavey 112 and would like a few suggestions on how to patch a delay unit in? I have had a couple of suggestions but cannot get the response from the effect unit that I expected. Any suggestions please.

You don't elaborate on the 'response' problem that you have. Quite simply, you patch your effects send from the amp into the input of the delay unit, and patch from the unit's output into the return socket on the amp. You are probably doing this already. If you go to http://www.peavey.com/assets/literature/manuals/nashville112.pdf and then go to page 5 it explains this in more detail, and tells you how to avoid distortion.

One of the problems with patching in a delay unit via send and return, is that you have no control over the delay repeats. By plugging the guitar into the delay unit and from there into your volume pedal, you can cut off the delays when you want to by use of the VP.

Hope this makes sense. I expect Basil will jump in here and explain things more comprehensively than I have, but that is the normal way of patching in an effect.

i take it you are talking about a delay pedal roy? or rack mount, there are four ways to my knowledge, and it wouldnt take too long to try them all, and see what works best for you,
1...... put the delay between guitar and volume pedal
2......put the delay between the volume pedal and the amp
3......patch the unit into power amp in, pre amp out, on the back of the amp
4......patch the unit into the post eq patch, send and return on the front of the amp

I always put the delay pedal after the volume pedal.

If you have a passive volume pedal, ie just a pot with no fancy electronics, try this:

Take a cord straight from the steel into the amp input (if the pickup is 'hot' on a GFI, use the low gain input).

Take a cord from pre eq patch 'send' (on the front panel) to the input of the volume pedal.

Take a cord from the output of the volume pedal to the input of the delay unit.

Take a cord from the output of the delay unit to the pre eq patch 'return'
