This is where you can rest a while and discuss anything - doesn't have to be steel guitar related!

A friend, Mick, asked me to put together a track for a song he had written as a tribute to one of his pals that had, sadly, passed away.
Mick sent me the top line, by singing into his phone, and we ended up with this. I put a wee bit of steel in there, on the down low, as I felt it was all about the lyrics. Also, Mick had never sung before, but I thought he had to sing it because of the personal message, and I was pleased with the result.

Excellent work Danny, have always admired your engineering and production skills, not forgetting your musical ability. To my mind you are the best engineer I had the pleasure of working with.

Thanks for those kind words Malcolm, and you were the very man that turned me on to this damned instrument in the first place! So, thank you again!

Nice work Danny, the song works really well, the emotion involved comes through clear. Did you do all the instrumentation on it?

Thanks Geoff.
Yes, it's all me, all done in Hillington Hot Sounds Studio (my bedroom), except for the vocals, Chris Judge, a tremendous singer from Grangemouth took care of the backing vocals. I recorded him and Mick in a rehearsal room. He was slated to sing it, but I thought it was such a personal song it was better coming from Mick.

Impressive Danny, yeah Mick isn't the most professional of singers but as you say, as it is his song etc the emotion behind it comes through well. He is a decent singer though considering he has never done anything like this before.

Danny and Mick, well done, I like that and loved the Gospel feel backing singers.
Nice song!

Aye, although Mick had never sung before, he was the drummer in a signed band, James King & The Lonewolves, and the guy who started the studio I worked at, at the fag end of my career (wit career!!!).

Thanks Roy, it's one guy doing the 'gospel choir', a very talented singer, he's currently on a world tour with the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, we were lucky to catch him.
