How will Brexit affect Steelies ?

Now that We are no longer a member of the E.U. I wonder if anyone can comment on the changes in buying from and selling to a person in Europe and also how will it affect any player if touring in Europe or vice versa? It is very unlikely that I will be offered a gig in Europe but I may want to buy/sell in EU

Billy, I can't comment on buying or selling in Europe, but as far as touring, it seems the outlook is grim for anyone other than big name bands. The MU has put out an estimate, based on a 4 piece band, that they would have to play at least 10 shows, to a capacity of 800, to just break even. Whereas, previously, a band could load the transit, show the passports at Dover, and away they went, they now have to, apply for, and purchase visas, and have all equipment listed on a carnet for customs, and this would be required for every and any of the 27 countries visited. Also, if they were sellng any CDs/T-shirts/merch they would have to pay taxes on these sold. I feel really sorry for any young bands that have had this opportunity cut off. Grim

You can import up to £135 worth of goods tax-free. If a non-UK based website is selling in the UK, it is the retailer's responsibility to pay the VAT, I'm not sure if that idea will actually work? if it's over £135 you will need to pay the VAT at %20 and if the retailer hasn't paid, you will pay a fee to collect it, parcel force charge £12. The reverse is you will need to fill in a declaration form and the tax will to be shorted out at the other end. So to sum up, if your importing something under £135 not much change and might be a bit cheaper, over £135 will be more expensive and take longer.
