I have bought one or two Chinese replica 6 string guitars in recent years, including a Fender Merle Haggard Tele that knocked out our own Robert Adams when he saw it. One factory that I have used, make incredible replicas that are in fact a higher quality than those USA guitars that they are based on. I realise that this is a contentious issue, and that not everyone here will agree with the practice. I must add quickly that the guitars that I have bought are built to my specification, and are not for resale. They are for my own personal use. Most of my collection of 26 x 6-strings are USA built with the odd Korean, British and Japanese instrument thrown in.

Now, there is a guy on Ali Express who is offering pedal steels. He has advertised an Emmons LG3 replica at a fraction of the current s/h value, and now has a replica Bigsby triple neck pedal steel advertised at £667.67 plus shipping. I have been communicating with him as I am considering dipping my toe in the water. Replica Bigsby's can be ordered and purchased in the USA and are top quality. Many of us have surmised over the years about what would happen if the Chinese ever got an interest in manufacturing steel guitars. Now it looks as though that thought is coming to fruition. I don't think that USA steel guitar manufacturers are quaking in their shoes just yet, but there is a chance that decent quality pedal steel could be just around the corner.
